On all toner cartridges and drum units it is best to vacuum them out before you refill them, if they have never been refilled before. To get more toner, drums or any other items needed go to All Supplies at the top of this page. EASY FULL BRACK DOWN REFILL ON THIS TONER CARTRIDGE
1.) First you will need to remove the small tension spring on the underside of the cartridge in Fig, 1 . NOTE: Be careful not to over extend the spring and damage it.
2.) After removal, place the spring in a safe location as it is very small and easily lost.
3.) Remove the two screws located on the geared end of the drum on the toner cartridge. Then remove the end cap cover and set aside in Fig, 2 . 4.) You will simply pull back the OPC shutter to expose the drum (Fig. 3).
5.) You will push out on the cartridge as you pull up on the gear end of the drum in Fig, 3.
6.) To remove the OPC, hold it by the large gear end and rotate the drum as you gently lift it out. (Fig, 4 ) To maintain optimum print quality and reliability, it is recommended to replace the OPC. ( NOTE: You may get many refills out of the toner cartridge before you have to replace the OPC Drum.)
7.) Grab the PCR by the metal shaft and disengage it from the PCR clip in Fig, 5 . Clean the PCR (Hot Water is best for this.) and set it aside, taking care not to damage it. 8.) To separate the toner hopper section from the waste hopper, you must remove the two metal pins located behind the OPC shutter arm. To do this, you will need a hook tool ( Fig, 6 ) so you can push the pins out. 9.) You will simply pull back the OPC shutter to expose the pins (Fig. 6 ). You will push them out from the inside with your hook tool to the outside of the toner cartridge. 10.) The OPC shutter will need to be opened slightly to allow the pins to be pushed out. After the end of the pin is exposed. After you push the pins out with a spring hook tool. You can finish removing it with Needle Nose Pliers. 11.) Gently separate the two halves of the toner cartridge. After separation, set the toner hopper section aside. (Fig, 7 ) 12.) To remove the wiper blade, take out the two screws on the stamping in Fig, 8.
13.) To disengage the shutter, simply move it backwards until it will not move any farther. Then gently push up from underneath the attachment point and the shutter will pop out of its clamp. It is not necessary to remove the recoil spring or the other side of the shutter arm . NOTE: Though it is not necessary to completely remove the OPC protective shutter, you will need to disengage it from the clamp that holds it in place. You will only need to do the side where the recoil spring is located. 14.) After removing the blade, clean out hopper with a vacuum or compressed air. 15.) Remove the end cap in Fig, 9. Take out the single screw that secures it in place. NOTE: The toner fill plug is located on this side of the cartridge behind the end cap.
16.) NOTE: Many of the new cartridge do not have the hole in them but just the place for the hole to place the hopper plug. If your cartridge is like that then you will need to make to hole and get a hopper plug for it. 17.) After you have made the hole or pulled the plug out pour the toner into the cartridge and place the plug back into the hole. ( NOTE: Hold the Mag roller in place when you pour the toner into the cartridge! ) 18.) Now you can reassemble it. And your ready to print.
