Cleaning Pads - All Gloves - Pour Spout / Funnels

On all toner cartridges and drum units it is best to vacuum them out before you refill them, if they have never been refilled before. To get more toner, drums or any other items needed go to All Supplies at the top of this page.

FULL REFILL ON THIS TONER CARTRIDGE

1.) Remove the two screws located on the geared end of the drum on the toner cartridge. Then remove the end cap cover and set aside in Fig, 1 .

Fig, 1

2.) To separate the toner hopper section from the waste hopper, you must remove the two metal pins located behind the OPC shutter arm. To do this, drill two small holes ( Fig, 2) in the cartridge shell BEHIND the pins so you can push them out. (This procedure is the same with the HP 1200 & 1300.)

Fig, 2

3.) To locate the proper position to drill the holes, simply pull back the OPC shutter to expose the pins (Fig. 3).

Fig, 3

4.) After drilling the holes, push the pins out with a spring hook tool. NOTE: The OPC shutter will need to be
opened slightly to allow the pins to be pushed out. After the end of the pin is exposed, you can finish removing it with Needle Nose Pliers.

5.) Before you separate the two sections, you will need to remove the small tension spring on the underside of the cartridge in Fig, 4. NOTE: Be careful not to over extend the spring and damage it.

Fig, 4

6.) After removal, place the spring in a safe location as it is very small and easily lost.

7.) Gently separate the two halves of the toner cartridge. After separation, set the toner hopper section aside. (Fig, 5) NOTE: To avoid damaging the drum during the separation process, do not hold the OPC section in the middle of the protective shutter.

Fig, 5

8.) To remove the OPC, hold it by the large gear end and rotate the drum as you gently lift it out. (Fig, 6) To maintain optimum print quality and reliability, it is recommended to replace the OPC. ( NOTE: You may get many refills out of the toner cartridge before you have to replace the OPC Drum.)

Fig, 6

9.) Grab the PCR by the metal shaft and disengage it from the PCR clip in Fig, 7. Clean the PCR (Hot Water is best for this.) and set it aside, taking care not to damage it.

Fig, 7

10.) To remove the wiper blade, take out the two screws on the stamping in Fig, 8.

Fig, 8 ( Vacuum out under the blade in Fig, 8 )

11.) To disengage the shutter, simply move it backwards until it will not move any farther. Then gently push up from underneath the attachment point and the shutter will pop out of its clamp. It is not necessary to remove the recoil spring or the other side of the shutter arm . NOTE: Though it is not necessary to completely remove the OPC protective shutter, you will need to disengage it from the clamp that holds it in place. You will only need to do the side where the recoil spring is located.

12.) After removing the blade, clean out hopper with a vacuum or compressed air.

13.) Remove the end cap in Fig, 9. Take out the single screw that secures it in place. NOTE: The toner fill plug is located on this side of the cartridge behind the end cap.

Fig, 9

14.) NOTE: Many of the new cartridge do not have the hole in them but just the place for the hole to place the hopper plug. If your cartridge is like that then you will need to make to hole and get a hopper plug for it.

15.) After you have made the hole or pulled the plug out pour the toner into the cartridge and place the plug back into the hole.

( NOTE: Hold the Mag roller in place when you pour the toner into the cartridge! )

9.) Now you can reassemble it. And your ready to print.
